PETERSHAM, Mass. — Town officials are encouraging residents to stay informed and involved in local government by attending public meetings and reviewing agendas posted ahead of scheduled sessions.
Throughout the year, Petersham’s boards and committees meet regularly to discuss issues affecting the community, including municipal operations, budgeting, land use, conservation, public safety, and long-term planning. Meeting agendas are posted in advance to give residents an opportunity to see what topics will be discussed and decide whether they would like to attend or provide public comment.
The Selectboard serves as the town’s chief executive body, overseeing municipal operations, reviewing contracts, approving appointments, and addressing a variety of community concerns. Other boards and committees—including the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, Finance Committee, Board of Health, and Zoning Board of Appeals—also conduct business during public meetings throughout the year.
Residents who are unable to attend meetings in person can review posted agendas and, when available, approved meeting minutes to stay informed about decisions affecting the community.
Town officials note that public participation is an important part of local government and encourage residents to attend meetings, ask questions, and stay engaged in the decision-making process.
