ATHOL, Mass. — Athol officials continue reminding residents that mandatory outdoor water restrictions remain in place due to low streamflow conditions affecting the Millers River watershed.
Under the current restrictions, nonessential outdoor watering is prohibited between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Officials say the measures are required under the town’s Water Management Act permit and will remain until river flow levels recover for at least seven consecutive days.
Residents are encouraged to conserve water by limiting lawn irrigation, avoiding unnecessary vehicle washing, and postponing other outdoor water use whenever possible.
Town officials say conservation efforts are essential to maintaining reliable water supplies throughout the remainder of the season.
