ATHOL — Athol Police responded to a reported fight at 11 Gibson Drive on Monday at approximately 3:02 p.m., involving two adult males, during which an elderly man was assaulted, according to initial police information.

Authorities said it was unclear whether the elderly male was directly involved in the altercation or was assaulted as a result of the fight. Due to the nature of the incident, officers from the Orange Police Department were requested to assist and responded to the scene.

The Athol Fire Department was also dispatched because multiple individuals sustained injuries.

One individual, identified as Jeffery Lagare, was arrested in connection with the incident. No further details regarding charges have been released.

Orange Police were later canceled after Athol officers reported the situation was under control.

Following the incident, responding officers went to Athol Memorial Hospital, reportedly to help keep the peace between the involved parties.
